Established in 1986 in the Model Market Gampola, with only 4 workers, ‘Rathnasiri Stores’ held up with heavy competition from many other grocery shops in the town, the competition was mainly from many oligopolistic retail dealers in the town. Sri Lanka’s economic crisis and the war that existed made the competition even fierce.

But out of all the odds, S.U.M.Nazar Udayar- The Owner and the workers, were able to break the shuttles and emerge as a successful business in the 80’s through good customer service, better business ethnics, setting up good marketing strategies and better resolutions than their competitors to compete in such a competitive market and that too with large businesses.

Through great success, and positive feedback from the customers, S.U.M.Nazar Udayar established ‘Mahajana Stores’ in 1997.

And now Mahajana Stores, the leading business in Central Province, which is now amongst the TOP 25 retail business stores in the Island (Unilever Sri Lanka Rankings)
