    Birth of S.U.M.Nazar Udayar, the third son in a poor family with seven siblings

    His elder brother started a small grocery shop in the village.

    The statements revealed that the first year's finances of the new shop wasn't enough for the running of the Family, which made both the elderly brothers give up education and start work for the sake of the Family.

    The younger brother S.U.M.Nazar Udayar started his school life in the village school

    As the new academic year cameby, the family supported by the two elderly brothers found hard to finance for the new books and uniform.But somehow Nazar Udayar resumed school

    Was his 9th birthday, apart from being a birthday boy on this day he was a worker in the village Clove Garden for a daily payment of 50cents.

    Successfully got through in the Grade 5 scholarship, was one of the few to do so in the village school.

    After successfully completing the Grade 5 scholarship, Nazar Udayar was granted a scholarship for the City School.

    To finance his travelling expenses for the new city school, everyday morning he worked in the nearby Tea Factory.

    Though he faced many problems in financing his school, that wasn't a barrier for his enthusiasm towards sports, In 1978 Nazar Udayar was named the Captain of the school's senior soccer team.

    Once again it was the start of another academic year, but not for Nazar Udayar. Due to the extreme poverty the family underwent he was compelled to quit education as his education was an expense for the family.

    It was the country's independence day, and also the day when Nazar Udayar started working under his brother as a permanent full time employee for a monthly payment of Rs 50/-

    January 17th 1982, Nazar Udayar was not merely an employee but was the owner of his brother's grocery shop after the takerover.

    The Owner of Rathnasiri Stores, who understood the entrepreneurship of Nazar Udayar on March 14th offered Nazar a possible takeover opportunity.

    After two years of deep discussions with family and friends, on the new year Nazar Udayar took over Rathnasiri Stores,Gampola.

    The Financial statements of Rathnasiri Storers revealed better figures this time around, which boosted the confidence of Nazar Udayar.

    On this very day, Nazar Udayar wedded.

    After the years Financial Statements were revealed, it showed and exceptional improvement in Sales and in Profit, where Nazar Udayar had glimpses of thoughts starting to flash his mind to start his own business.

    One the Independence day, Mahajana Stores was honored by Awarding the Muthupala Award by Unilever Ltd.

    Janatha Stores was established, mainly to treat the customer who found it hard to reach Mahajana Stores. And also our first establishment in our very own Gampola Complex

    Establishment of Mahajana Super, to keep up with the change in society and peoples interests of shopping in supermakets, we identified the demand and established Mahajana Super which was also to control the crowd of Mahajana Stores.

    Mahajana Tea Stores was established in our very own Gampola Complex, where Mahajan Tea was first made available to locals.
